منذ تفشي فيروس كورونا (COVID-19) في جميع أنحاء لبنان، كان مقدمو الرعاية الصحية في الخطوط الأمامية يخاطرون بصحتهم الجسدية وصحتهم النفسية في سبيل الدفاع ضد هذا الفيروس ومحاولات إخماد تفشيه بموارد محدودة في كثير من الأحيان.تهدف هذه الدراسة الوصفية التحليلية إلى التحقق من التأثير النفسي، واستراتيجيات المواجهة لمقدمي الرعاية الصحية في الخطوط الأمامية في المستشفيات اللبنانية أثناء تفشي فيروس كورونا COVID-19 بين آذار وحزيران 2020. جُمعت البيانات من خلال استبيان كمي مؤلف من 67 سؤالاً، مقسم إلى 5 أجزاء ودرجات محددة من 0 إلى 3. وبلغ عدد المشاركين 564 من ممرضين، أطباء، تقني أشعة ومختبر، معالجين فيزيائيين وصيادلة قانونيين.أظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن تفشي جائحة الكورونا أدت إلى زيادة الضغط قليلاً على مقدمي الرعاية الصحية بالرغم من معاناتهم من الأزمة الإقتصادية. فقد أبدوا التزامًا اجتماعيًا ومهنيًا بمواصلة عملهم بالرغم من قلقهم على سلامتهم الشخصية وسلامة عائلاتهم.كما أن العوامل التي أدت إلى آثار نفسية إيجابية هي السلوك الإيجابي من زملائهم، الضمانات الفعالة للوقاية من انتقال المرض، الحدّ من الحالات المبلغ عنها، وتعافي مرضاهم. أما إجراءات التكيف الشخصية التي تم استخدامها فهي تدابير وقائية صارمة، وزيادة المعرفة بطرق انتقال المرض والوقاية منه، والعزلة الاجتماعية، والدردشة مع العائلة والأصدقاء. وأشاروا إلى العوامل التحفيزية التي تشجعهم على الاستمرار في العمل خلال هذه الجائحة وفي المستقبل والتي تكمن في الاعتراف بجهودهم من قبل إدارة المستشفى والحكومة، توافر إرشادات مكافحة العدوى، معدات الحماية الشخصية الكافية، والتعويض المالي الإضافي لهم أثناء أو بعد تفشي المرض.

***Abstract

Background: Since the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) throughout Lebanon, frontline healthcare providers have been responsible for defense against coronavirus and of attempts to quell the outbreak. They contact patients infected with COVID-19 often with limited resources and they risk their physical health and psychological well-being.
Objective: This study aims to investigate the psychological impact and coping strategies of frontline healthcare providers in Lebanese hospitals during the COVID‑19 outbreak between March and June 2020.
Method: A convenient, descriptive and analytical study included frontline healthcare providers at Lebanese hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic. The data were collected through a quantitative questionnaire of 67 questions, divided into 5 parts and assigned scores from 0 to 3. Overall, 564 frontline healthcare providers from Lebanese hospitals completed the questionnaire.
Results: Respondents declared that they had a social and professional obligation to continue working during this outbreak. They were slightly anxious regarding not only their own but also their families' safety. The positive attitude from their colleagues, effective safeguards for prevention from disease transmission, reduction in reported cases, and recovery of their patients provided positive psychological impacts. The coping measures used by healthcare providers were strict protective measures, knowledge of virus prevention and transmission, social isolation, and chatting with family and friends.
Conclusion: The COVID‑19 outbreak in Lebanon resulted in slightly increasing stress for healthcare providers despite their suffering from the economic crisis. Recognition of efforts of healthcare providers by hospital management and the government, availability of infection control guidelines, adequate personal protective equipment, and extra financial compensation for them during or after the outbreak should be recognized as factors that may encourage healthcare providers to work during future epidemics.
