Memo Pad. May 30
I remember when I was very young, waiting at the bus stop with my classmates. It was extremely early and we attacked by these annoying bugs that liked to come out at sunrise. One mother who was with us suggested we put our hands up because the bugs will supposedly follow the highest point.
It did the trick though I'm sure the bus driver was confused at this small group of students with their hands raised getting onto the bus.
But on a spiritual level, isn't it annoying when we are trying to worship and praise God and we cannot seem to focus...the "bugs" of life are surrounding our thoughts. We think about the stresses of the day, the fears of tomorrow and the regrets of the past.
Mike Murdock talks about this in his "Seeds of Wisdom Volume 2 on Prayer". There is a chapter called, "Use Satan as a Memo Pad."
He says,
"Every time you enter your prayer time, Satan will remind you of something you forgot to do. It may be a telephone call to make or a letter to write, but it is designed to break your focus."
"Keep a memo pad and pen handy as you pray. When satan reminds you of something, simply write it down for later. Then say, "Thank you, satan, for being my memo pad."
"Now, relax and enjoy your time with God."
2 Corinthians 2:11 : “…so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes.”
This will be my last weekly blog post for a while. Travis and I are on a 21-day hiatus with God where we will be interceding for others and seeking new direction and wisdom for our lives.
If you need prayer, let me know. We would love to pray for you!
