Eva’s Byte #376 – The Car Wash

The seasonal assault of pollen having pollinated itself out, I took my vehicle to the local car wash the other day. Fastidious with keeping my mosheen clean with sheen, I opted for the “wash works” package: full-service wash, sealer wax, clear coat protectant, pressure spray the undercarriage, polish wax, Armor all tires. The price of the package had escalated to $30. That’s not to say the lesser packages were cheap either. A no-frills exterior wash costs $11.

Happily motoring away from the premises, I started looking through my rearview mirror toward the distant past of the late ‘50s and early ‘60s. I espied bygone days when my sister and I would accompany my dad to the car wash. The kind where the car moves through a long tunnel on a conveyor, past abrasive brushes and dancing noodles, before a quick team vacuumed and wiped down the interior. Geneva Car Wash, one we often frequented on Douglas Avenue in North Providence, Rhode Island, which no longer exists, cost $2.00.

As Bob Dylan put it, “the times they are a-changin’”.

In my capacity of a writer, the draft of chapter 15 in my Contemporary work in progress is motoring along toward the end of the line at 2177 words thus far.

*Throughout the changing times, may creative outlets brighten our prospects.

My sincere appreciation if you’ve read this far.

Pamela Allegretto The only time my poor little car gets washed is when I drag out the garden hose.

With all the dust in the air, my fastidiousness can be an act of futility. May you have a productive week.
