Interview at Chaucer's Bookstore

It took me months to get back in the saddle after I finished OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY, Book 7 in the Madeline Dawkins Mystery Series. But the cause of the delay wasn’t due to lack of inspiration. It was having to prepare for moving out of the house we’ve been in for 35 years. I knew it was going to be a lot of work, but I never expected it to take for four solid months.

Fortunately, since our move, I’ve started working in earnest on BREACH OF TRUST, doing my best to meet my deadline. But in order to do that, I’ve had to let social media slide, which I really miss. I love to connect with fellow readers and writers here on Goodreads, and on Twitter and FB. I now realize that I’ve been so focused on making deadlines, I’ve missed out on the joy of sharing my reading experiences with others. I’ve also let all forms of self-promotion slide, a task I’m really not crazy about to start with.

With that in mind, when I had the chance to do a book signing at Chaucer’s Bookstore here in Santa Barbara, I took it. Half of the event was spent in a Q&A, the other half signing books and chatting with the attendees.

It was wonderful to submerge myself in something like that again, and I realize that being out of the loop with likeminded readers and writers isn’t for me. I need to see what others are reading and writing; it’s something that feeds my imagination and my soul. I like to support other authors and I need to share my love of reading with fellow book lovers, who always have great suggestions on what to read next.

If you click on the link below, you can hear the interview at Chaucer’s. If there was ever anything you wanted to know about my writing―what inspires me and how I got started―you’ll find it here. I can be quite the chatterbox when I’m asked about my writing or my favorite books, so feel free to reach out to me anytime!

Until next time, I wish you happy reading!

Cynthia Hamilton Thank you, Kimber! I'm glad you liked the interview. I hadn't done a book signing event since 2006! I just haven't had the time to pursue that kind of thing. I'm glad I did it, though. My interviewer was very good!

Hi Kimber! Thank you for your comment! As you can see, I'm only about a year behind in extracurricular activities. :D So thrilled with your success with your debut novel. You know I'm chomping at the bit for the next book!
