While prepping for the new year back in late December, I started wondering if I had stayed on track with my theme word for 2023. (I gave up on goals years ago. Trying to create a vibe works much better for me.) But it dawned on me... I couldn't even remember what my theme word was!

At some point, it apparently changed to organization but was it because I had already accomplished the other one or had I given up?

Turns out, I had forgotten that I was hoping to have some rejuvenation in 2023.

I utterly failed that attempt.

In fact, I would argue that adding homeschool, driver's ed for one kid and a wedding for another obliterated my entire attempt at a calm vibe for the year.

So I figured, what the hell. Let's try it again in 2024!

What I've done so far is make a point of saying "no" unless I have to. For instance, as much as I want to keep my Saturday on the couch, I probably should drive my 8-year-old to his state chess tournament. On the flip side, however, I've cancelled a couple of signings I was set to attend this year so I can rest instead.

I've also lowered my Goodreads goal for the year. I want to read what I want and sometimes that means a 700k word Dramione instead of seven or eight other books! (You can friend me here if you're on Goodreads. I kind of like the book discussions!) I'm hoping that will take some of the pressure off reading and make it fun again.

Past that, I'm not really sure how to accomplish rejuvenation so any recommendations or tips would be appreciated. Just drop me an email with your best advice. I could use it!
