“Care for a drink?” Octavio asked, thinking of the tavern in the village.

The stranger’s eyes glinted in the moonlight. “I care more for good company.”

“One might have both.”

A wry smile wound its way up the stranger’s cheek. The stranger’s eye-teeth sat a little larger and further ahead than the rest of his mouth, but by far not the strangest set Octavio had seen since he set foot on English shores. “One might have both, indeed.”
