Every year during Book Banning Week, I’m asked for quotes about censorship. It makes me sad that I have so much personal experience with this. Many of my books are formally banned in school libraries and elsewhere, usually for the so-called crime of mentioning female reproductive health, birth control, or simply empowerment.

As a writer of children's literature, I fell in love with books at a very young age, and I love to write, so I began keeping a diary when I was young, and it is something I still do. I agree that everything you said about books is to impart children with knowledge, but to ban books so that they can't learn, and learn about the world around them.
I definitely agree that Censorship and the banning of books are fearful to those who don't pay attention to the many things that affect us all.
As a society, we should all have the right to read books that impart knowledge, and allow us (especially children,) the right to grow and learn about so many things that will someday affect them. So I agree that censorship is bullying, but people should allow all of us to read and grow, and become the people we are meant to be, in our everyday lives, and books do that.
