So those wonderful fellows at The Broken Binding, who have been revolutionising SF&F bookselling over the last few years, have just announced their signed limited edition of The Devils:
These are blessed (or perhaps cursed) by a devilish exclusive wraparound cover by John Anthony di Giovanni, exclusive endpapers by Jeff Brown and Peng Lu, sprayed edges of Balthazar Sham Ivam Draxi making puppets of the dead, and I think they’ve got cool boards by Catrina Paints as well, all art directed by Petrik Leo and each one lovingly signed by me.
Now for special editions Broken Binding operate a subscription based model, though once all the subscriptions are settled they often have copies left over to sell directly – so if you want one of these lavishly tooled versions you can express your interest over here. Incidentally I’m going to be doing an event with the Broken Binding guys up in Birmingham when I’ve got back from the US on June 2nd, and if you buy a ticket to the event along with the book this is, I believe, the edition you’ll receive, though if you’ve got any questions about this I advise you to check with them directly.
There is, of course, some competition in the form of Waterstones special edition, also signed, also with an exclusive version of Will Staehle’s cover, also with special boards, and this time with the endpapers and internal illustrations by Joel Daniel Phillips (of which more next week):
You could order that one over here. Oh, Sweet Saint Beatrix, how will you pick? Perhaps you’ll just have to get both. OR let’s be honest you could also just get the standard hardcover editions from Gollancz (UK) or Tor (US) because they are ANYTHING BUT STANDARD featuring the VERY SAME lavish endpapers and illustrations as the Waterstones edition but this time with the added rare distinction of actually NOT being signed by me. And, good grief, were you to want them signed you could come out and visit me on the road as I tour the UK (dates announced) and US (dates soon to be announced) with a cornucopia of special guests in May when the book publishes!
And do you know something else? Pssst. Come close, where no one can hear. Next week I’m gonna be announcing another set of editions alongside exclusive artwork and limited merch! And that’s without considering the audiobook read by the undisputed master of the form Steven Pacey, with whom I’ll be doing an event in London on May 8th. Holy heaven what a time to be alive!
