As a bonus, to commemorate the release of this collection featuring multiple stories that debuted on my Patreon, I’ve finally posted a new short story, “Birth of Knowledge,” on my Patreon’s Fiction level. Well, it’s actually an old story that I wrote in 1997 and never sold. I set it aside with an eye toward trying to rework it, but lost track of it over the years. Looking back at it now, I realized there was little chance of reworking it into a marketable story, as a number of its predictions about the development of the internet are quaint in retrospect. Yet I think it has some ideas that are interesting and relevant to the current debate over so-called artificial intelligence, so I figured it was worth publishing for my Patreon subscribers.
