My Review

Destiny is the story of Gabriella who is pretty, has friends and very much sought after from the boys in her school. But even though her life at school seems pretty good…Gabriella’s home life is far far from perfect. Destiny’s mother had died, and with just her father, who appears to have a very bad drinking problem; Gabriella has some deep unhappiness. The story begins with Gabriella seemingly zoned out…lost of focus. But as the story progresses, the reader is made aware that Gabriella’s lack of focus, sleep and all other symptoms that she is experiencing is relating to the fact that the closer Gabriella makes it to her impending birthday, then her powers are needing to surface. Gabriella is a witch, although she has supressed that memory after her mother passed. But her mother’s spirit is trying to reach her, due to Richard, a evil witch, is coming into Gabrella’s life with the whole purpose to turning her dark.

Gabriella’s mothers spirit enlist the help of Darron, he has been one of the group Gabriella hangs with for a couple of years, but unbeknownst to many, Darron is a witch also, and very much in love with Gabriella…

So Darron attempts to get Gabriella to believe him, but she at first rejects him; but after Richard works his way into her life, through her father…(as her father’s boss). Richard does indeed attempt to sway Gabriella…but Darron and Gabriella’s other friends, work together to finally stop Richard!

(Review Destiny and Destiny Unveiled) I really enjoyed both books. I liked the way Ms. DeLuca slowly worked the plot up to a fevered pitch. The author took time to reveal small facts, and to work in small plot points that soon developed into a fun, supspense filled story. I enjoyed the friendshp of the girls, each a little different from the other. Darron is perfect and I truly enjoyed how he was dedicated to Gabriella as a friend, then as something more…In Destiny Unveiled I could really feel his pain when he felt he was unable to help Gabriella, My favorite scene was when Darron(Destiny Unveiled) was in the room with everyone and they were all strategizing on how to save Desting(sorry, spoiler)…and he simply erupts and literally has to hold himself back from killing Destiny’s aunt…The author did such a great job at despicting the rawness of his frustration and the passion between the two young people…

But there were so many scenes to enjoy and the twist and turns and surprises involving Destiny and her cousin, and who Destiny really is…

I enjoyed the relationship between the characters, the dialogue. Ms. DeLuca did a fabulous job with description, and I enjoyed the action and suspense that was intermixed.

These were good books…very… I hated when they ended and I look forward to more of Ms. DeLuca’s works!
