There are an estimated 1.5 million Canadians who are visually impaired, 28,525 are children under the age of 15. In the United States, there are an estimated 625,000 children who make up the 7 million of those who are visually impaired?

Less than 2% of published books are available in Braille?!? Of the 170,000,000 unique books printed around the Earth, 3,400,000 of these books are transcribed into Braille?

As an author, you can connect with The Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) in either Canada or the United States, to be directed to the many resources available to you to help transcribe your book?

I am pleased to announce that the CNIB is currently transcribing my children’s book, A Song … A Dance … A Play … A Musical Book For You! into Braille! I have translated it into French, Polish, Spanish, Russian and Ukrainian. I am very much looking forward to being able to close my eyes and feel the words written while singing along and actually tear up imagining this experience and having this edition join with the others.

It is my hope that everyone who reads this post will join the group I have created here on Goodreads for authors and our readers to tell us which books of ours they would like to have transcribed, and with the amazing support from CNIB and the like, we can at least double the number of books available in Braille TODAY!
