Greetings from Jungleland

Greetings from Jungleland is a personal memoir based mostly on my two and a half years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Togo, West Africa. During that time, I wrote a series of newsletters titled “Greetings from Jungleland” that I photocopied and sent home to family and friends. In the years since I left Togo, I was frequently asked to recount stories of my experiences. So about four years ago, I started a creative writing project with the intent of transcribing the newsletters into a book, but quickly found that the newsletter’s limited format, as well as my broader perspective on the experience from years of reflection, turned the project into something more personal – a statement about my youth, friendships, culture, race, religion, politics, the world, and my place in it.

I am giving all proceeds from sales of the book to Friends of Togo, an organization of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers that funds community development projects like the ones described in the book.

Meanwhile, hope this book offers you a good read.
