The Next Big Thing....
Okay everyone... I've been tagged by MaryBeth Mullhall to post on The Next Big Thing! ack!!! The way it works, authors get to talk about their work in progress. I have to answer ten questions and then tag another five authors (but I could only find four SORRY!). So, everybody ready? Here we go!What is the working title of your book? Deadly Descent
Due to be released late Oct 2012
Where did the idea come from for the book?I loved the last horror novel I wrote but wanted to do something a bit different. I know zombies are huge right now and since I am fascinated by stuff like Resident Evil and 28 Weeks Later, I wanted to do something in that realm. It is working out great.
What genre does your book fall under?Supernatural horror for the most part. I guess it could be looked at as thriller as well.
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition? That's tough. For Victoria I would put Sophia Myles. She did a fantastic job in Outlander. For John maybe Karl Urban. He always does a great job as a military man. :) The rest could be interchanged between many people. Perhaps the funder of the project could be done by Daniel Craig. Cocky and rich. LOL
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?Good lord, one sentence?? Geez. I'm a writer, we are long winded. :) Okay, let's see. When the discovery of a lifetime starts to kill people, and bring them back to life, Dr. Tori Cutter has little time to find a cure before the rest of the world falls victim to a new plague. Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? So far I've been enjoying the self-publishing route. The freedom and control of every aspect has been quite an eye opener.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? It ran me about two months. Finding time between the day job, kids and family, only allows for so much time. But it was well worth the trip.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?Wow, um, most of my stuff can be related to movies :) But let's see. The Zombie Guide, World War Z, I Am Legend to name a few. Movie wise, definitely 28 Weeks Later, Resident Evil, Land of the Dead.
Who or What inspired you to write this book?I've always wanted to write something that contained a virus. I'm a total fan of the RE series. I've also really liked the movie Land of the Dead where you don't find stupid mindless zombies. That the creatures have actually evolved to retain/regain some of their intelligence.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? There is a good chance that this book is just the beginning. This isn't just zombies nor crazed people, but a combo of both. Plus, it takes place at the deepest part of the ocean, so there isn't the ability to just run outside. :) I like the fact that the characters are limited in what they can do and must find creative ways to both defend themselves and get free of the creatures out to get them. Tag, you’re it!:
