Well, I'm doing it. At long last, I am launching my own author website. Not only that, I'm writing a blog! As I prepared to put fingers to keyboard for this, my first blog ever, my web designer, the fabulous Matt Stine, gave me the following advice. "Tell the truth. Always."

With that in mind ... let me just say this about the whole Cameron writes a blog thing. "Yikes."

I mean, really. What if I totally tank at this? What if the writer can't think of anything to write? This isn't fiction, after all. Though, now that I think about it, it might be kind of fun to plunk some work-in-progress excerpts in here from time to time. (Note to self. Do this for sure.) This is me writing about me--at least to start. What if I sound boring? Even worse, what if it sounds like all I do is whine? (Second note to self. You do sound like you're whining, Cam. And you know how you feel about whiners so give yourself some advice and stop walking down this road. Right now.)

Because the other thing is--I am so excited! Writing is a solitary task and that's ok. That's the way it should be and I like it. But that doesn't mean that I don't like to share, to let somebody into the world(s) inside my head before a book comes out--while I'm writing it. I've been a writer for almost 20 years. My first young adult titles came out in 1994. And in all that time, it's mostly just been me, my imagination, and my keyboard.

But now I have somebody else. I have you, each and every time you read this blog. I have no idea what I'll say next, but I do know this: I will always tell the truth, and you are always invited to come along for the ride. Have something you want to tell me right back?
