A Favorite Character
I like the odd and sort of off-beat characters in stories. Those that are memorable because of physical traits, actions, or their way of speaking or how they are perceived by the other characters. It doesn't have to be the main character for me to gravitate toward them and desire more. I think about "Dobby" in Harry Potter as an example. He had an essential role that weaved in and out of a couple of books and yet, he was not a primary character. I was left wanting to know more and was heartbroken when he died while saving Harry.
I have a character in Crossroads and the Himalayan Crystals that I adore. While he is not a featured character, he has an essential role. His name is Keene Ardara.
— Introducing Keene Ardara: “You dare to trounce on my land three over three over three and then dare not speak? One of you can surely muster up a syllable or two to explain your intrusion upon my property as I don’t see a gag in any of your mouths.” His snarl exposed the top row of his rotted, and sharp jagged teeth.
His demeanor is gruff and yet his tender heart rises to the surface periodically and when least expected.
