Here is a snippet from Blood Healing:
Desperate for comfort, I reached through the cage and rubbed my little finger against his left hand. My body warmed and he placed his fingers on top of mine, threading them with my own. The warmth turned to heat as he stroked my fingers, and when my hand trembled from pleasure he turned to me with daring eyes and a confidence I had not yet seen in him. I swallowed. Bewitched by what he discovered in me, he pushed himself closer to the bars. I leaned my head against the wall, lips, eyes, hair, all for him.
Blueberries and incense, that’s what he smelled of and he whispered, ‘My thoughts conquer my will, Adenine. I am drawn to you like I have been for no one else.’
My heart sung upon hearing his words and I knew a similar feeling brewed inside of me, for him. I closed my eyes and opened them again. ‘I feel like I know you already.’
The corner of his mouth drew to the side and his eyes widened. ‘When I went to the farms. I thought I would never see you again. That would have been a lifelong misery.’ The tone of his voice was so low, so sincere that my heart danced in my chest and the space between our faces buzzed with palpable energy.
I wanted to be closer, so close that I might lose myself in him forever.
