The Sharpest Writer

I also recently finished reading Gillian Flynn's Sharp Objects, which I loved. Tough, cool, twisted--like my women. But really, Flynn is one hell of a writer. Her prose is brisk, clean, sinuous. The first book of hers that I read was Gone Girl. I loved that one too, and for the same reason: The sheer power and spell of the writing. Ms. Flynn is an original, and deserves attention.

Nikki "The Crazie Betty" V. Oh if you like her work please read Dark Places! It was my first Gillian Flynn novel and it's very dark and twisted but the woman is, like you said, one hell of a writer.

Vicky I agree. for me Dark Places was much more satisfying than Gone Girl

Beth I can't agree about SHARP OBJECTS. Although I will want to read Flynn's next book, that's only because her other two novels are good. But even GONE GIRL is flawed. It has great beginning chapters that really suck the reader in, but the last part is a lot of silliness, I thought. I've read better authors.

I agree with you completely! It was as if she lost energy toward the end and just wrote to get it finished.

Mojobee I've read all three and I enjoyed Dark Places the most.
