The Academy - Second Edition

Hello! Sorry I haven't updated in a while - I tore my rotator cuff, and had to limit my keyboard time for several months. While I am still recovering, I'm back to writing every day.

I wasn't idle during my injury downtime, however. I rewrote my first novel, The Academy, improving voice, dialog and flow, and then paid for a professional edit and proofing. The results are currently available - if you haven't bought it yet due to complaints about typos, then I urge you to give it another shot - that problem is fixed! If you already purchased it (thank you!), then all you need to do is download the new version - or if you have enabled automatic updates on your Kindle, then it should have updated automatically.

I have similarly rewritten The Anathema, and the new text is off with the editor being proofed at the moment. I would expect that to become available as well in the coming weeks.

Enjoy!

Nate Hi Zach,

I'm reading the Kindle version available in the Cloud Reader (read.amazon.com). It still seems to have many errors (particularly dropped words, missing punctuation, etc.) I don't see many typos, per se. I have also noticed incorrect word usage - the use of nonplussed jumps out, as it's used several times to describe a character being unfazed. That's a common usage error, but still an error.

But I really like the book! I'm very much looking forward to reading future installments of the series.

Zachary Rawlins Sorry to hear that - It is possible that you are still seeing the old edition, if you don't have auto-update enabled. If not, then please email me at spook_nine@yahoo.com with any errors you find, and I will correct them.

Zachary Rawlins Thank you, Kim! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm anticipating getting the first draft of The Far Shores to my editors in November.

Zachary Rawlins I totally understand - I'm the same way with series that I really enjoy.

Let's see - Unknown Kadath Estates is technically just three books, but the Night Market is more or less a prequel to that series (Yael will show up in Book Two of the series, 'The Mysteries of Holly Diem' - due out in the first half of next year).

The series are connected, but not in the sense that characters from one will appear in the other. There are common elements that appear in all of my work - the Outer Dark, the Witches, and the Ether, for example.

And yes, you certainly may use whatever you like. You can also email me (spook_nine@yahoo.com) if you have more questions. And do send me a link to your blog!

Cheers!

Zachary Rawlins In terms of the Central Series, there will be five books - The Academy, The Anathema, The Far Shores, the Outer Dark, and The Church of Sleep. I don't think I could tie up all the plotlines in just one more book!
