Hello!

Well I'm really chuffed. I have two fans on goodreads.

Good morning Christina and Cindy.

I suspect that C and C are charming, intelligent, attractive (in a subtle, non-obvious way), witty (in a quiet, non-showy off way), tasteful, kind and generous.

Anthony Larusso Sally, I am sure you will have thousands more fans as this fantastic book continues to grow in awareness. You are tasteful, kind, generous, especially towards main characters. And diabolically clever in requestioning old vocabulary. White Witches, indeed. Count me in as one of those fans who is so swept into the world, I must visit here and all other media and clues you connect us with. Am on edge of seat for Book 2. ~AJL

Thanks Anthony. I'm so thrilled that you are a Half Bad fan. Am working on Half Wild at the moment - nearly ready to hand it to my editor.

Kimberly The most difficult thing about reading a series is having to wait for the next book to come out. I have to say, I am anxiously awaiting the next one! I loved getting to know Nathan and the detail to build the relationship. Congrats, an awesome book. I am sure your fan base will quickly soar to thousands or more.

message 8: by Mara (new)

Constance Awesome book, my teenage daughter and I love this book. We can not wait til the next one, please hurry. It almost hurts not knowing what's happening with our beloved Nathan.

message 13: by Lori (new)

Lori Sally - you done hooked me! I finished your book last night at 11pm, and was so happy with it that I was sad I had run out of story. I had a Half Bad hangover this morning looking for something to read during my commute to work today!
I cannot wait to see what you do with Nathan next! Thank you for bringing us a fresh story in a world of mundane ideas!!! You rock!

Thanks, So good that you and your daughter love the same thing! And so nice that you love Nathan too - he needs all the love he can get! I'm working on Half Wild at the moment all I can say about it is that it's bigger and wilder than Half Bad!

What a lovely message - thanks. I tried my best to make Half Bad different from other stories, glad you think I've succeeded.

Justine Sally, I wanted to tell you how very much I enjoyed your book. I noticed there are a lot of mixed reviews on Goodreads…Half Bad seems to have emerged as what I refer to as a love/hate book or a 2/5 book…people seem to give it either 2 stars or 5. It reminds me quite a bit of the reaction people had to Jo Walton's book Among Others - people tended to either love that book or hate it. I can't ever say why that is? I don't understand the dislike of either book myself. Funnily enough although the story in Half Bad is clearly very different, your voice reminds me a little of Jo Walton's - not a bad thing! Anyway, as I said at the start, I just wanted to say simply that I really enjoyed the book. I love to read. That is what I do when I have any spare moments to speak of, and I felt those moments were well spent with Half Bad. Well done.

message 17: by Lolrus (new)

Lolrus My daughter bought "Half Bad" a while ago, I found it yesterday. I'm on page 100ish and loving it. I'm a 52 year old fan of hard Sci-Fi, But luckily I have people around me who buy different books that catch my eye, thank goodness for that or I probably wouldn't have found you. Trying to tell myself March isn't really that far away is it, failing, I know when I've finished that finding my next read will be really hard. "Readers Block" I call it. Going to make a large strong coffee and sit by the gas-fire with book and cat, expect not much else done till teatime.

Thanks for the story!

Thanks Justine,
It's not a great feeling being given 2 stars (or 1!) though in a way a 3 is worse. I tell myself it's better to have some love Half Bad (and some hate it) rather than everyone going meh (a 3).

Great to hear you're picking up books from your daughter (usually it's the other way round) - tell her thanks from me.

message 20: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl I am one of your older readers as well, which also means that I only have a vague memory of the book. But that being said, it was enough of a reaction that I am waiting on the next book to find its way to my hands.

It was a chance encounter that Half Bad came home with me in the first place. I was standing in the teenager book section at the library and one of the librarians walked by and handed me the book. I looked it over and it wasn't something that I usually read, but it came home with me none the less. A lot of new ideas for the fantasy world, different plot...good read.

message 21: by Justine (new)

Justine I love stories like that, Cheryl! I'm an adult reader too, but read quite a mix of things including YA. I passed Half Bad on to many of my adult friends who also loved it.

Thanks for taking the time to send me a message Cheryl, I really appreciate it. And say thanks to that librarian for me too! I don't think age really makes a difference to readers, it's what you enjoy that counts - reading isn't meant to be a punishment! I love reading from a range of genres myself.

Thanks again.

Hi Justine, Thanks for passing Half Bad on to your friend, I'm so glad she enjoyed it. But I know we all like different things -I was amused this week when discussing recent reads with my editor (Ben) and how we disagreed on so much! I love working with him because we are always on the same wavelength re HALF BAD, but when it comes to other books he often hates things that I love and vice versa, but at least it gives us plenty to talk (argue) about!

Great that you're reading YA.

Thanks

Sally

message 25: by Ellie (new)

Ellie Dear Sally Green,
I love your stories. I started reading half bad when it first came out and I loved it. I remember trying to go get the second book and it not being out yet. I waited a year and we were on a trip and I made my parents drop me off at Barnes and Noble to run in and get it. You books have help me so much. They have given me something to look forward to and I reread them whenever I get the chance. I have connected with Nathan and I cannot wait for half lost. I have started count down for when it comes out. I even took my senior pictures with Half Bad and Half Wild. Thank you so much for writing these. My parents and friend think I am crazy for how excited I am but I do not care. Thank you so much for writing them. Sorry about the long post I just wanted to let you how much I appreciate you writing these.
Sincerely,
Ellie Drees

message 26: by Sally (new)

Sally Green Ellie,

Thanks so much for your message - and thank your parents too for stopping and letting you dash into Barnes and Noble. I'm incredibly flattered that you've taken your senior pictures with Half Bad and Half Wild. If my books have been in any way helpful and dear to you then I have achieved more than I ever hoped. Nathan and all my characters have become a huge part of my life and it's lovely to hear that they have connected with you.
Best wishes.
Thank you again.
Sally

Mashaekh Hassan Dear Sally Green!
First of all I would love to say that, I am calling you as DEAR right from my heart. I finished reading Half Bad yesterday. One of my uncles brought it from London as it is not available here in Bangladesh.
I am a fan of you now! I wanna be a writer like you. I don't know what to say. It was really a great experience reading your book. Please don't stop the series. Please. I haven't yet read Half Wild. But soon I will collect it. I am on my vacation after the last exam of my school life. I am happy that I read the book Half Bad on this vacation which gave me a full good experience.
Best regards.
Mashaekh Hassan

Octavia Cambion Sally Green,

With three books, you have put me through turmoil, anger and suspense. Yours is a style that marks a new era of authors and I am on the verge of crying because I know I'll never a love books as much as I love Half Life. Some writers thread their words into our minds; you carve them as art into our souls.

message 29: by Chris (new)

Chris goodnight You have one less fan here. Half bad was good. Half wild was decent but both were a chore to get through. Half lost was all crap. How dare you.
