Marsha I'm not sure if we are supposed to comment here or on your facebook page? The best thing for me is, during summer I'm able to relax some and usually visit with family I haven't seen all year. I work for a school system so I'm considered a 10 month employee but I choose to work during the summer with those students who need extra help.

Kay J I don't have Facebook, but the best thing about summer for me is getting to travel with family to see other family, and have awesome roadtrips with friends.

message 3: by Lorrie (new)

Lorrie In the summer I love to be outside enjoying nature. I love to walk along the beach, dig & play in my backyard, and read more books than usual. I have more free time during the summer since my hours are cut back in education during the summer.

message 4: by JoAnne (new)

JoAnne Best thing about summer is sitting outside, early in the morning, listening to the birds and reading a new book!

message 5: by Robin (new)

Robin Summer for me is spending time in the sun with a great book!

Gina The best thing about summer for me is finally getting to spend time with my kids, going to the pool, and reading books in the sun while my kids swim. I love to spend time with my kids, I love warm weather, and I love reading. Summer is when all 3 of my favorite things come together and I can do them all at the same time. Whether simply at the pool or on vacation, I can have it all!

message 7: by Wanda (new)

Wanda Zerangue I love summer because I love the outdoors! I love sitting outdoors with a good book, a cool drink, and nature!!

message 8: by Laura (new)

Laura I follow Jane Green on FB; the best thing I like about summer is going to the beach Sunday afternoons with a picnic and reading a book listening to the waves and soaking up the sun.

Denise Walsh Jane Green is new to me but with your recommendation it has already been put on the to do list for tomorrow. I love your books Lisa and wait impatiently for new ones to come out then I share them with my twin sister. Now we'll both have a new author on our lists. Thank you so very much for all the enjoyment your give us with your books. Unfortunately we are both disabled due to disabling arthrtis but we can still read and knit, and love our families so we are blessed. There is nothing I love better in summer than to rest on my porch swing and read with the paddle fan and a cold glass of spring water to keep me cool. I hope you also have wonderful summer pleasures. Thanks again, Denise Walsh

Diane Jones Best thing about summer break is removing my wristwatch and going off timetable - living in the moment, doing whatever ...whenever!

Deborah Phillips I would love a chance to have Lisa book to read early. Yes!!❤❤

Gina There are so many "best things" about summer for me especially living in Ohio, a state that has all 4 seasons. I would say that warm weather ranks pretty high for me after the long cold winter and rainy spring! I love to swim, lie on my deck with a cold drink and read, go the the park...basically anything outdoors being in the sun!

I am a teacher so summer is my time off of work and I don't have to wake up to an alarm every morning. I am very lucky to be able to have 3 months living without a timetable. Most jobs don't have that benefit, however, don't ever think that a teacher doesn't deserve to be paid well because of my above statement. Teachers work at least 10 months out of the year, and even though our "school hours" may be set, most teachers (including myself) don't leave until well after 5:00 after we have spent time in meetings, talking to parents, grading papers, and other various duties. We also spend some of our summer time taking courses to keep our teaching licence up to date and prepping or classroom. Now, off my soapbox! LOL! Due to the fact that I am extremely lucky to have my summers off of work that means that I get time to spend with my three children. They are getting older and the time that I get to spend with them is so precious to me because before I know it, they will be away at college or doing their own thing during the summer. My husband and I always plan a family vacation during summer, and being beach lovers, we often go somewhere on the east coast. When the kids were younger, we usually went to Hilton Head, SC where it was laid back and had private beaches so the kids wouldn't be overwhelmed. However, now that my oldest is a teenager and youngest is 9, we have been going to destinations that have both a historical destination now that they are learning about American History in school as well as something fun. Most recently we have visited Cape Cod/Boston/New Hampshire/Maine and Virginia Beach/Colonial Williamsburg/Yorktown/Mount Vernon with a stop at Gettysburg on the way home.

There are so many wonderful things about Summer! The warm weather, time with my kids, and vacations. Then there is the simple time spent at home. 4th of July Barbeques with family ending with fireworks. Tank tops and shorts. Ice cream. Taking the dog to the park with the kids. Barebequing on a warm summer evening and eating on the deck with the family. Getting together with the neighbors while the kids play Ghost in the Graveyard and having a cold beer with friends. There are just so many great things about Summer that I could go on and on. I guess to me Summer to me means warmth, travel, tiime, food, family, and friends, and fun!

Karen The best thing for me in summer are barbques with friends, the beach, being barefoot, working in my gardens, playing with my dogs, some good R and R from a busy school year - reading on the deck, and listening to the birds chirp.

message 14: by Bea (new)

Bea I love the extended daylight, so I don't need a flashlight to pick up my mail, even when the mail truck delays until 6pm! Gosh, it is also great to get out to the mailbox by the road without first stopping to put on boots, coat, gloves, and possibly shovel a path to the road.
And, of course, I prefer mowing the lawn to shoveling that white stuff! Such fun chasing the deer munching busily on freshly planted flowers by the front door. Imagine basking in the sunlight while scraping bird doo off the deck, Can't wait!
LOL! Gotcha! Bea

Connie The best thing about summer is going to the beach and long walks in the morning before most people are up picking up shells. Then getting a cup of coffee and enjoying it from a boardwalk bench.
