One of my first reviewers on Amazon
This novel is a strong and substantive debut by Jaime Allison Parker. In simple prose and direct terms, she tackles matters of racial tension and corruption of religious tenets with an unflinching and insightful voice that is reminiscent of classic writers. Norse mythology interlaces with a compelling story that is both completely unique and remarkably compelling.
As the reader follows Crenshaw on his journey of redemption, self discovery, and penance, there is a straightforward way in which his past crimes and future hopes are outlined. Motivated by lost love, remorse, and a better understanding of the man he wants to be, he becomes a character that the reader wants to believe in- a difficult task for someone with his past. It is a testament to Parker’s writing that she creates a frank and blunt approach to the timeline and I thoroughly enjoyed immersing myself in her flowing pace.
This is a book you will not regret picking up, and I recommend it to anyone who is intrigued by Norse Mythology or stories of personal redemption.–Einar Mercer
