I dunno. I feel that it would have made more sense if Eragon had been forced to kill Murtagh and Thorn. That whole final battle made me cringe. It felt so...campy? No, like a Saturday morning cartoon.
As for Eragon leaving, I REALLY wish there was a stronger reason than what was provided. Didn't they clear the city Galby was in of the poison he caused? Why couldn't they do the same with the old Rider island? Instead it came off as "lolprophecy".
