The thing is that there was never any chemistry between Alex and Lilia! Alex, sure. But Lilia had never felt that way at all at any point. With Kat, she should have gone to Oberlin because the spell broke and she should have been able to go. We didn't even know what happens to her after really. I personally think the authors should have included at least two chapter in Kats perspective and Lilias, and then the epilogue. I HATED THE EPILOGUE!!! ugh! I was rooting VERY badly for Reeve and Lilia!!
The epilogue did ruin the entire series. Lillia had been playing with Alex's feelings and leading him along for years, and she finally decided "no, I'm not going to lead him on anymore, I need to be better as a friend" - and then they get together?! It was the worst end to a character development I think I'd ever seen, because it just didn't make sense based on her personality and attitude through the main part of the series.
