Not everyone wants to be immortal. Nikki didn't, she wanted to have a future. She wanted to repair the damage she did to her family, but now she can't, because she'll have to leave again. Causing more damage and heart ache. And she''l have to watch the love of her life die. Something Cole couldn't even do. She wanted to grow up, she wanted to go to collage. She didn't want to be immortal so much she was willing to go to the tunnels instead. And not to mention that she''l have to rip away the free will of people just to live.

What Cole did was cowardly. He wasn't willing to watch her live without him. So he turned her in hopes that she will some day forgive him.
