Hmm you're right. But not all adaptations turn out to be disasters. Just look at 12 Years a Slave, Wolf of Wall Street, The Pianist and many others. It all depends on the producers' choices and how good is the director. For The Storyteller, I think Agnieszka Holland will be nice :)
Like Nicolas Sparks movies are so removed from the books, the story is ruined, so no to a 'storyteller' movie. BTW the recipe for Minka's rolls are out of this world!
I'm not sure, but I think I probably agree. The Storyteller was fantastic and had me hooked from beginning to end as most of Jodi Picoult's novels do. This one particularly blew me away. I think it would be lost on the screen. The only Jodi Picoult novel I don't like is My Sister's Keeper - unfortunately I saw the film first (something I rarely do) and I think it ruined what should have been an interesting and ethically thought-provoking read
