Donna I watched Ammonite after seeing an interview about it. I read Remarkable Creatures and loved it, so I was excited to see the movie. Although the movie was very atmospheric, I was disappointed because if you went in not knowing about Mary, your would have no idea of what she had discovered. It was about a love affair (that was probably/possibly fictional and not really about Mary and her early life. So, I was pretty disappointed.

Rozi I, for one, would love to see Remarkable Creatures made into a film, regardless how many others are made about Mary Anning.

Donna I would love to see one as well.

Sandy A film of Remarkable Creatures - if true to the book - would be much more interesting than Ammonite.

sandi Absolutely Sandy, totally agree.

Dr. Cristina Bettencourt There are films about remarkable people in different phases in their lives, like Young Victoria, Mrs. Brown, etc. Let us hope, even if I rarely find a movie better than a book.

Carol I simply assumed that Amonite is based on Remarkable Creatures. Now Ill cross Ammonite off my to see list and instead await the movie that will be based on Remarkable Creatures. However I agree with Dr Bettencourt in that only rarely can a movie best a book.

Kathryn Lilly I also assumed the movie was based on your book. It is too bad because I loved, loved your Remarkable Creatures book. I always buy your books whenever I see them at sales and gi ve them away. My favorite of course is the Pearl Earring. I so love your writing.

Seeing the announcement of the movie broke my heart because I was waiting for Remarkable Creatures with hope in my heart. I remember writing thank you email for this book in 2009 or 2010. Please know that your words will carry longer than bazillion of movies with saroise etc.

Lydia Saul I watched this film thinking it would be the same story and your book as was bitterly disappointed to find this wasn’t the case. A complete travesty. So enjoyed your book though. It made me so happy to find a book about Mary Anning’s life. A real hero of mine from a young age. You brought her to life for me. Books will always trump a film for me every time.
