Anne Melbourne and Sydney also have quite substantial creeks running under them. The one under Elizabeth St in Melbourne actually floods every few decades.

Steven Sarafian This, as regards London specifically, is a major plot point in Dorothy L. Sayers & Jill Paton Walsh's novel Thrones Dominations. Sayers wrote 150 pages and a detailed outline in the 1930s but never completed it. The manuscript was found in the 1990s in a safe at Sayers publisher and the estate got Jill Paton Walsh to complete it. It is pretty good, the seams show only in a few spots. Walsh wrote three more, the next two based on material from Sayers and the third completely Walsh but for the characters.

Gabys Ben Aaronovitch said in an interview that his two favourite authors for listening to were Terry Pratchett & Lois McMaster Bujold., not I think a coincidence as both seem to love people and are very wise about them.
Thank you, Lois.
