Cassie I loved Margaret Kerr too. My mom bought the second two books for me from UK when I was pregnant. I would buy another one in a heartbeat!

Candace Robb If you liked Maggie, I think you'll find a kindred spirit in my new sleuth, Kate Clifford--though she's in York, not Scotland. Thanks for your note--I love hearing praise for Maggie.

MaryCatherine I actually loved the Margaret Kerr series, mainly because the degree of difficulty for the time period impressed me. Finding ways to give agency to a woman in the lated medieval period necessitates a bit of a stretch--certainly a woman "out of her time," like most important women throughout history are deemed. Also, the necessity to connect to men to access power tends to bog down adventures with the baggage of romance. I am terribly impressed that the author didn't let the problems stop her from writing books about strong and interesting women in this early modern/late medieval period. Looking forward to more. Candace Robb is one of my favorite authors, especially as her modern historical scholarship is such a pleasure to find in adventure novels!
