Andie Ah, thank you for clarifying. Even more nuanced than I realized! (It was driving me around the bend, as I was certain I had seen "sera" somewhere but couldn't find it when I was looking, and I did find "Madame.") What a lovely, subtle touch to give a clue as to where the speaker is coming from. I probably absorbed it subliminally and it just formed part of the atmosphere.

I am really looking forward to diving into your other books (so far I have only been in the Vorkosigan saga). However, I have a job I need to be functional for, and unfortunately when there is an absorbing book I am just unable to set it down for things like sleep (or housework, bill paying, exercise ... I do eat though). Thus, I know I just can't afford to jump in until the summer. I am getting my indigo list ready now, so I will be all set as soon as my schedule lightens up! Thanks so much for your reply.

Mitali Throughout Brothers in Arms, I assumed that the "Ser" part of Ser Galen was his first name ... then I got to Komarr and was temporarily confused when other people were addressed by the same name. I finally figured it was meant as an honorific. Incidentally, this means that Ser Galen has no first name in the books. Huh. Well, he doesn't deserve one. ;)
