I have read a lot of older SF, and agree that some of it can feel very dated rather quickly. I have a strong feeling that your works will stand the test of time. Some of the very early short stories do have a bit of dated feel to me, although I still find them enjoyable. But your three main worlds/series feel very much "modern" for want of a better way to express "not-dated".
Lois, as someone in your same generation that discovered the Vorkosigan books in the late 80s, I do believe your books are pretty timeless. As interesting as the world building is, the character-driven aspects are what readers seem attached to.
I rarely re-read books, because there are simply to many others on my TBR list. But I've read all of the Vorkosigan books twice or more. After watching this young woman's video review I began to yearn for starting the series again...
Yes, I like your fantasy series and other works, too, but Miles and associates are simply unforgettable. I also love the fact that the series actually consists of many different genres.
Even your reviews of manga are fun to read, though it's not one of my favorites. But you've made me curious about some of them...
Thanks for the memories. I'll be reading whatever you put out. (OK, I vote for Vorkosigan, if you're keeping score.)
... just commenting on the previous comment: "Thanks for the memories" is fantastic. Yes. Many people have internalized your works.
