Rechan Wow, you have all 5 books written (or mostly written) before the series goes into publication. Are you currently writing a lot of other stuff right now?

Hx Well, thank you very much for answering. You'd have to pardon my impatience but the world is sadly not overflowing with high quality scifi or fantasy books in audio format and since I listen to something every day I constantly run out of books. Not your problem, I agree.

If the audio books come out simultaneously as the printed ones, not only won't I be the last, I will be one of the first!! I'll do a marathon listening session for full immersion. Five 12-16 hour books I can do in a week, easy. If they're more lengthy, which I really hope they are, then maybe 2-3 weeks, because job gets in the way. This is gonna be FUN!!! Especially since you've once again finished all books before publishing them. Superb.

Apropos nothing, many people have already established that you are a splendid author, and that you know how to tell a story. But beyond that from what I've read from you so far it is blindingly obvious that you have no problem with women and you don't secretly hate them. That turned out to be more important to me than I thought it was. Cause I tried to read the Belgariad last year and I just couldn't. That's off topic, I guess. Ok, thanks again, I'm outta here.

Michael Hey Rachan...The five books are now done - and the first one is with the publisher for their changes. I still need to do a bit of editing and polish on books 2 - 5 (2 & 3 are in really good shape but 4 & 5 need a bit more loving) but the story is whole and that is the most important thing.

As to what I'm writing right now...it's the third Riyria Chronicle book (The Death of Dulgath). It's going well and I hope to have it finished and ready for editing by the end of July. Usually I try to concentrate on one novel at a time so this is the only project I currently have going...but if changes come in for the first book (Rhune) I might have to put it aside and work on them.

Michael @Hx - You are very welcome. I do think the First Empire audio books will be released simultaneously with the print/ebook. What I don't think will happen is a "release all at once" like Orbit did. While I understand the desire to do "marathon sessions" that also makes it hard on the author as people who wait until the entire series is released before starting makes the publisher think the books aren't well received. Not your problem, I know. You should consume the books how you wish to, but it does cause some series to be cancelled. That shouldn't be a problem with me as I'll get them out there "someway" but for others it can be a real problem.

As to women...ha...ha no I don't hate them. I'm lucky to be married to a woman far more intelligent than I (the fact that she married me might not prove it but she has plenty of other good decisions to counteract that). Most women in my stories have some aspect of Robin in them somewhere. I'm glad you enjoyed them.

Hx @Michael - Oh, I also thought that waiting for all books to come out before I buy the series will make certain people draw the wrong conclusion but no worries - I plan to buy them as soon as each becomes available. I will not knowingly sabotage my currently favorite author! Although publishers should learn to take the pulse of the audience in some additional complementary way already. Just relying on the number of sales per unit time is so old school.

Michael Nice! Thanks. I wish there was a better way for them to "take the pulse" if you have any ideas, I'll certainly pass it along. I'm not very good at Facebook or Twitter so hopefully the "way" won't mean counting likes/follows on those sites ;-)

Hx Hm. How about polls? They seem to be doing wonders for politicians, why not for fantasy authors as well? This will allow people to say they will buy a book before it comes out, just because it's by a certain author. True, it's not an absolute guarantee for equivalent sales but neither are political polls an absolute guarantee that a candidate will win. Or, if the publishers want guarantees, instead of polls, you could have pledges, like on kickstarter. I would totally pledge to buy all books in a new series you write.
