Rita Webb Thanks!

message 2: by Xena Elektra (new)

Xena Elektra I just finished Princess Curse and I loved it. Honestly I'd love to see a sequel and if it was a bit longer and in the YA category that'd be amazing. I'm not sure how bent you are on keeping the series MG, but I think YA would fit quite well not only for the story but for readers. There's not much of a gap in age there and I always loved growing with characters when I was little.

message 3: by Cecilia (new)

Cecilia Dennison Yes, please! I second Xena's idea. Could you allow it to evolve into a YA story? I am dying to know more about Dragos and Reveka. Please, dear Merrie?

message 4: by Smut (new)

Smut Reader I totally agree with Xena and Cecilia.

message 5: by Katie (new)

Katie Write a comment...I haven't read it yet (but actually have the same sequel question for The Castle Behind Thorns, which was remarkable AND seemed like the end was really the beginning of a whole new story, but anyway

message 6: by Ash (new)

Ash Brighton YA or even New Adult would be fitting! I found our heroine to be very mature for her age and I think the transition would be natural. Longer for sure! I felt very curious to know more about the lore of the world. There are also so many strong personalities. Would love to learn more about what motivates them. Thanks for the great read! Finished it in one sitting.

message 7: by Millie (new)

Millie I agree with Xena Elektra and think that there isn't much of a age difference especially now a days i'm in middle school and I know that kids know way more stuff than they should, i'm sad to say it but thats were I was forced in to knowing what some of that stuff was so I don't think it will be a problem with it being a YA story. I just finneshed The Princess Curse and I would love it if there was a squeal i SO wan't to read what happens next with Dragos And Reveka! I have a pet peeve where if I don't read a book series in order I freak out but i'm fine, so what i'm saying is that i read The Princess Curse first on accident but I think it can stand alone if it was a series by itself. I LOVE your books though!

message 8: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Yes yes yes sequel please?? I feel like we were just getting to know Reveka and Dragos, and I want to know more!

message 9: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa This is one of the best YA books ever :)

message 10: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Weaver This book is fantastic. In reality, most of the people who read this book in 2011 are probably in their teens by now. When I read the book and saw that Dragos had allowed Reveka 5 years until she would have to go back. So yea, My friends and I had a hunch that their was a chance you would write it, I've never given up hope. I was dismayed one year when you asked your viewers to imagine their own conclusion. (No offence but, nothing is the same if it's not done by the same person. These are not my characters, and I cannot write their conclusion because they are not mine to write.) However, this book has encouraged me in so many ways with my own writing in general, I want to thank-you for that. If you decide to write a second book, great! That would be the best thing in the world. If not, I understand. Either way, you are one of my favorite authors, and I hope that you continue to write more books.
Sincerely,
The not so young anymore readers (friends) and me.

Meg I would love a sequel, and I think it would fit perfectly in the YA age group! I loved this book when I first read it years ago, I love it now, and I'm still really curious to know what happens next...

message 12: by Katie (new)

Katie Ok, just had an idea--maybe The Princess Curse could have a loose sequel set in YA or adult? I LOVED The Princess Curse, especially because it was such a refreshing twist on the Beauty and the Beast/Underworld stories I've read. But it also seemed like it was just one adventure for the characters, with the main dilemma (becoming resident-Queen of the Underworld) happening in the unwritten future. I LOVED this by the way--why can't more fantasy heroines find that hopeful kind of balance OR compromise? Thanks for that, by the way. :) But anyway, a sequel could begin with a little backstory, like most books have, and then you could reintroduce the characters. Since they'd be older, new readers AND older readers would have to be re-introduced to the characters too, especially since they would've grown and their worlds would've changed. And then you could write your story plot! :D Have you read Yangsee Choo's book, The Ghost Bride? Because while that doesn't have a prequel, it IS written along a similar vein--i.e. older heroine facing peril, etc. from the Underworld, but without explicit scenes or anything. Seeing as The Princess Curse's original fans are probably older teens now (and adults), I think they'd (or should I say, we'd) respond well to a sequel with an older heroine. Which isn't to say explicit scenes or anything. :) Like another reviewer said, Reveka is a more mature heroine, and never once did I think, "Oh she's so young." I actually didn't think of ages either really--it was just a great story with brave heroes/heroines with really amazing moments and quotes.

Lizeth Rendon Having read the first book when I was in middle school and I’m now in college I would love for the sequel to be more adult! I still check up every year to see if the sequel is in progress because I loved the book soooo much. I hope someday you’ll consider writing the sequel and I can’t wait until it comes out :)

message 14: by Jocelyn (new)

Jocelyn Decker Please update us on if there is anouther, I just finnished reading it for a second time and soooooo want more. I want to find out how she will rule and how good she will be at it.

message 15: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea I would love, love, love to read a Young Adult or New Adult sequel! I reached out to the publisher to let them know that ;) Hopefully that helps!

message 16: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie This would be amazing if it were continued as a YA book! You could have the series age up with the characters, kind of like what Tamora Pierce did with the Circle of Magic and then the Circle Opens series.

message 17: by Renee (new)

Renee Yes please continue it as a YA book! U read this when I was 14 and I'm 19 now and reading about an older Reveka would be amazing!! It would only be natural as well.

message 18: by Diane (new)

Diane Bay Sounds like you may have the stuff for an excellent prequel!

message 19: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Mocciola I really really hope she does a sequel someday soon. I have literally read and re-read this book like 10 times already. I need a sequel so bad...

message 20: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei I'm going to do another rereading of Princess Curse, but I really really hope for a sequel as well. I've been dying to read a continuation of Reveka and Dragos's story ever since I first picked up the book in 2011. Still crossing my fingers in hope for more!

message 21: by Anastasia (new)

Anastasia I would love to see a sequel with their relationship continued. That's my favorite part of the book! What happens after they get together. Though "get together" is not exactly what happens here.

message 22: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei It would be neat if another fairytale somehow gets mixed into the sequel, or more than one since I suspect Dragos's backstory involves a fairytale I haven't heard yet. I assume that the sequel probably would be in the YA range so maybe that's why it's taking so long?

message 23: by {Courtney} (new)

{Courtney} Honestly I wish there was a sequel I've wanted a long time ever since it released

message 24: by Myrah (new)

Myrah Hi! I've read your first two books and they were amazing! (Handbook for Dragon Slayers and Princess Curse) I've read Princess Curse over and over again pretty frequently and I'm always left wondering if there's going to be a sequel to it? I was wondering if the sequel's probability has changed recently? If so, I would love to know! Thank you :)

message 25: by Erin (new)

Erin Hi! I am a fellow author. I love reading books and asking questions about them. I found that you were on goodreads, so I thought I’d ask the questions since it seems as if a sequel won’t be coming out—at least, not for some time.
I reread The Princess Curse again. I love the book, but I can’t help but wonder about Dragos. Who is he? What memory is he commemorating with the plum blossoms? Who is the nymph of Alethe? What choice did Dragos have to make? Why can Dragos read Turkish? How did Maricara get to the Underworld? What about Corvinus? And the crows? What about the killing of gods? And all the herbs in the underworld? What made them different than on earth? Why did Dragos say his name was Frumos if he obviously detested the name? Why did Reveka not ask about Dragos’s third eye? And the tributes to Dragos? What was so important about them? What were the next five years like for Reveka as she went to the Underworld every five days?
That’s a lot of questions… more than I thought I had. The Princess Curse is one of my favorite books, and I really want there to be a sequel so I can have answers to those questions! And if there isn’t a sequel, can you maybe share the answers to those questions?
Thanks!
