I've worked with children almost my entire adult life. And yes, they still do get excited to see something of themselves represented in books. Though, it may not be exactly the same, I read a book called, The Girl From Puerto Rico, as a child. I gravitated towards the book with a singular excitement. And then I read the book. The Spanish Harlem in the book was nothing like the Spanish Harlem I lived in. This girl from Puerto Rico, was too much a stranger and nothing like us, my sisters and I.

I've never read the Spy School series, but I have read Moon Base Alpha. If you treated that other series with the same authenticity you showed in Moon Base Alpha, I'm sure it was nothing shy of excellent.

So thank you, for the children in my family and for all those children I've worked with over the years who've wanted representation and couldn't find it.

As for myself, I am ever so grateful to have discovered authors like you. And ... on a personal note I'm grateful to Pablo Cartaya, who took a boy who spoke no Spanish to Puerto Rico and made me feel like if I were nine years old. 🧡🤟🏽🧡

Do you seriously think that someone would CHOOSE to be criticized and bullied? That people WANT to live their lives in fear of what could happen if they came out? No. It's not a choice.

first of all you don't know what your talking about and yes they choses to go through that but you don't understand that you can't be forced to like a certain gender you chose to.
