Jonathan Palfrey I searched for this in the e-book and drew a blank at first, having forgotten that the name is spelled Lewko in the book. But I got there in the end. The text is indeed vague about what happened to the demon; it was a past event that wasn’t important to the story.

Kate Davenport Agreed, but we have since seen that people can have their demon taken by a saint of the bastard. It was the mention of a miracle that intrigued me. It’s the same as wondering whether Hallana’s demon is still around in Penric’s time time. Since demon’s avoid each other, we are unlikely to find out, but it is interesting to speculate.

Jerri Well, I suppose one could consider the action of a saint to be a miracle? I don't have a view on this specific event, not enough data.

Kate Davenport So, so many side characters I'd like to know more about. It happens every time I reread a well written book. So, thanks for that.

Jonathan Palfrey Kate: I agree, throughout the World of the Five Gods I keep coming across characters I’d like to see more of, but they come and go in the course of one story and are never seen again. I suppose it’s inevitable, but it’s sad. On the other hand, it’s better than reading stories in which you don’t care about the characters and have no desire to see them again…

Joanna It’s all Lois’ books, not only WotFG. I remember that during reading "Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen" I suddenly wanted a whole novel about the poor overworked and underfunded scientist from the university Jole visited… :-D
