Rereading Hallowed Hunt and I wondered something. Leuko says he was a sorcerer and deliberately “laid down” the gift of a demon because of a miracle. In your opinion, was he able to pass on his demon to someone else or did it go back to the Bastard?

It's been over 20 years since I wrote that throw-away line, and I have no memory of what was in my head at the time. As it does seem to have been done with the direct hand of the white god, it's possible the miracle could have gone either way, the demon passed along to another sorcerer or directly reabsorbed into the god. My feel of L.'s regret in that passage implies that reabsorbed was meant at the time; that Leuko had somehow ruined his demon-gift. But if a reader wants to picture something else, it seems text does not forbid.

I know it's just over a 12 hour flight, but ever thought of coming to New Zealand to give a reading? You could go to Australia too. Although it is hot and has many snakes, actually if memory serves 7 or 8 of the top killers in the world. Aotearoa, land of the long white cloud, and the only thing you have to worry about is sheep.
