Thanks for answering. I guess my question was prompted by reading This Heart of Mine recently, as I was aghast by the "heroine" raping the hero and how lightly the rape was treated in the book. Perhaps when it was written the element of sexual consent was not that clearly defined in society/law (?), so that's why I wondered if you regretted going that route with the storyline.
J. Although in real life this would be a tragedy. I feel for fiction this was not a violent rape. Maybe because I am a women and a bit of a sexist. Although this was definitely a violation, with questionable consent. I have re read this book many times and may now be desensitized, but I do feel the issue was dealt with. The first half of the book was the distrust (and rightfully so) of the heroine. She lies, has impulse control issues and reacts not logically, but emotionally. I think this is what brought my interest into the Hero's own dare devil approach to life. Together they calmed one another. Neither are smart individually, together they make sense. As a reader, I am pleased Susan Elizabeth Phillips chose not admit to, disparaging or regretting a story. I have enjoyed and repeat at least 1-2 times a year many of her stories and will continue to do so. Try Hot Shot, he is the real putz.
