Thanks so much for your question, Kees! I truly believe that reading as much as you (I) can teaches you about writing – for me, that started with falling in love with The Baby-Sitter’s Club when I was six and continued when I was reading essays by Joan Didion in college; through the non-fiction book about dolphins that I finished just yesterday and whatever book I’ll start reading today. Many of the writers who inspire me write stories that are very, very different from the types of stories that I write. But I think I learn something about how to tell a story from almost everything I read.
