I have a follow-up question to this. Except for your family's experience as inspiration for Betweeen Shades of Grey, how do you select the time and place for your novels? Do you just have an Aha moment, or do you gravitate to periods of history that you've always had a general interest in?
I might have remembered incorrectly. After reading another question and response, it looks like you were not related to the Lithuanians who you based the story on. Either way, I really enjoyed your writing.
