In Dark Curse there is a scene in the crystal cave where most of the males are against females fighting. Why don't they use the training excuse to keep them safe for a few decades? Raven is still getting used to being a carpathian and she was the first converted female. It's mostly the converted females (other than Natalya and Ivory) who want to fight.
This seems to be an age-old argument. You have men who love their women so much they can't stand the thought of them being hurt. Some of them are simply old fashioned and need to get with the times. Some are certainly motivated by their love and need of their lifemate. Some of the women feel the same way. They want to keep the one they love safe. And some feel more confident in fighting then others. It's always going to be a balancing act from couple to couple.
