B.K. Duncan The Great War had an awful lot to do with changing values. Many could no longer see the point of holding out for long-term things such as marriage when their future could be wiped out tomorrow. The horror of the conflict made people think again about what really mattered. Love would have been at the top of most lists.

Kim There's a post somewhere around that lists a whole line of philosophies, including free love, birth control, women's independence and right to vote, etc. And the era wasn't the 1960s, it was the Civil War times in the USA. Really changed my ideas about how life was conducted in the past!
