Thanks for the reply. I haven't been on GR as long as you, but I would guess that the level of author saturation would not have been as acute then.

Given what you know, if you only had one book and no readership, what would you do in 2014?

If I had one book and no readership I would concentrate on writing book #2, then book #3. Once I had 3 books "out there" THEN I would concentrate on building the readership. When you have less than 3 books 90% - 95% of your time should be creating more content and 5% - 10% of your time to promotion. I have a more extensive post about this that you can read more on here:
