I agree with your re-read statement. Sometimes it's good for us to go back to some of the good old oldies, such as Willa Cather - I have just re-read all of her classics and submitted reviews on them here on Goodreads. I like to flip back and forth between the oldies and new historical fiction authors. As an example; I recently red A Lantern in her Hand by Bess Streeter Aldrich and was very pleased with her descriptions on early Nebraska history. You should check it out.
