When I read that I thought the same thing, oh no! FMG is my all time favorite book ever!! I have re-read it so many times! but you are my favorite author so if you love the script I'm sure I will love the movie!!!! thank you for writing such a great book!
Well I will definitely see the movie, since it's based on your awesome book and will try to be forgiving. Josie didn't have a brother right, or is he taking the place of Mason, so that she can have even more anguish? But if they take away the scene of Kaitlyn and Liam talking on the water tower, or the scene where Liam says to the woman who is clueless "Hey I'm on a forever kind of date tonight?" I will throw popcorn at the screen - likely pissing of the people in front of me. Why do the screenwriting adaptors always feel the need to muck around with perfection? The only one I will ever forgive is Stanley Kubrick, who made "The Shining" into a better and creepier movie than the book. But your story is seamless - why change anything?
Sorry I am just seeing this now.
Josie doesn't have a brother in the book but does in the movie.
Mason is in the movie.
As for the changes that will cause you to throw popcorn, PLEASE document it all for my entertainment!
The thing is, unless the author is the screenwriter, which is highly unusual, changes happen for the good of the film. I'm confident in the movie that everyone will love it!
You should have made yourself a producer, just like Bette Davis did on Feud with Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte. Of course that was only to drive Joan Crawford bat-sh*t crazy, so it's not really the same thing. But still...did they let you have any input on it? Also, while I don't know much about country now (I abandoned it in favor of New Wave and punk in 1982, so I just gave away my age - and I did go to see Alabama 4 times), isn't Luke Bryan about 40? Liam is (I hope still) 28. Who is a famous country singer that's around 30?
