But Curse is my favorite. It really rewards a full reading! I love stories where the protagonist has to scrounge to make do!
If what you liked best about Penric was the internal relationship, I think Paladin of Souls is closest. But really, the difference in your appreciation is likely due to your life experience in the meantime and I suggest you try any of them. You will probably love them all.
(l have always found it amusing that "lngrey" and "angry" probably sound alike.)
