Carol I prefer having both. Why doesn't anyone celebrate Midsummer Day (night) any more?

Gabi Do countries outside of north America consider solstices the beginning of a season? To me, the clue is in the name MID-summer, MID-winter, etc. I know some countries (including mine) would count the season as beginning on the 1st of the month.
