I normally never comment on anything in here, but this I had to. How on earth is death threats or threats in general a compliment? Just thinking that it could in any way be a compliment is terrible! Threats are never okay, and I hope the people who spoke these threats, verbally or written, are ashamed of themselves. They should be, it is a low, wrong thing to do.
To be fair, I think Miss Arya was just trying to say something nice out of a bad thing and tried to cheer up a writer with some inspiring words. Though yes, I'm afraid you can't put a good spin on threats no matter how hard you try. Still, she was trying to do something good so one can't be too hard.
That situation makes me feel ill. I love your innovative style of writing. I get lost in your series and enjoy the characters and their choices so much. I can't wrap my head around readers that want to threaten the author unless the author crafts the story the way they want. That kind of thinking is just wrong. Sorry that happened to you.
Although I did feel that the series lost some of its fizzle for me, I still enjoyed reading them all and most of the books did resonate with me. I can't believe that people made threats. That is just crazy. There have been plenty of books and movies that I have hated, but I have never been crazy enough to make threats.
Gosh that is just appalling behavior - people get so intense these days it's just silly. I loved the stories as I do all of the stuff you do - new Midnight series is a cracker. Look forward to whatever you write next - all the best & happy writing
I love Charlaine Harris' writing and her books, I didn't know about these threats people made, it's hard to understand why people do such awful things sometimes and I completely agree with Charlaine's response. I don't understand why fans would think threatening an author would get them what they want.
Sookie ended up with the one person who truly loved and cared about her and appreciated her for who she was and did not use her for her ability or for sex, and that person was Sam. Through the entire series he was her friend. I knew they would end up together exactly the same way I knew Ginny and Harry/ Ron and Hermione would be together in the HP series. It is truly awful that people out there issued death threats over fictional characters in a fictional series.
Threats? That is so wrong. I have loved your books and thought wistfully about more in each of your series, but that is just nuts
