Agree completely! I'd also like to add my 2 cents if that's okay. It's also useful (and fun) if you can join writing groups to read/critique. Writers learn a lot from critiquing (as well as reading a lot too, of course.) When I first started, I also took some courses to get myself started on the basic terminology and structure, just to give myself a foundation to work from. And then after that, it's write, write, write, write... :-)
