The second Penric novella does have Father themes.
I'd like to pipe up and say,"Yes, please." to more Penric & Des. Though the length is a bit frustratingly short, I thoroughly enjoy their byplay and humor. If they're still "speaking to you", I'm sure I'm not the only one waiting avidly for the next installment.
And since this popped back up and I'm feeling bold, I do have to say I'd love to hear the tale of a murder mystery set in the world of the Five Gods. On top of that, it would be really fun to see the byplay of influences from the son, daughter, and bastard on a father's solemn chosen. Think inverse of Ista; a man(?) of deep solemnity that doesn't like humor, raucous joy, or jovial intellectuals surrounded by the same while trying to DO THEIR JOB (which to them is holier than normal)? I get that this may not be speaking to you and that's what matters (on top of the workload) but it just sounded so fun I had to share the thought. Though in hindsight, I guess we got that with Penric's Fox, so I'll shut up happily and say,"Thank you!"
