Hi Fiona, having had three books self published myself I totally agree with you. Editing and presentation is very important. If you know and like an author you'll buy the book regardless, however if you're new, then the cover is the first impression people will have of your work. Best of luck with your writing.
Yes, I agree and it's a pity that the presentation is usually what new indie authors skimp on. Best of luck to you to with writing!
