I'm working my way through a Tuchman, I have a Hart on a back shelf somewhere, and T.E. Lawrence is definitely on my list! I'll have to hit some of those others! Thanks so much!
Also check out Lao Tzu. As I recall, the book was not very long. And I think Captain Ky Tung liked to quote him.
While I think there was a place in his sizable mental library of quotations for Daoist works of all kinds, Commodore Tung was more liable to quote Sun Tzu, of "The Art of War" fame.
Sorry about that - I should have checked the book itself instead of going by memory. Art of War was indeed the title I had in mind.
I read *Bat Bomb* on a previous recommendation by author Kenneth Oppel, who used the incident as part of the inspiration for his children's novel, *Sunwing*. It is part of a terrific fantasy series featuring bats.
